Call for submissions

TNQ coverThe deadline for The New Quarterly’s Nick Blatchford Occasional Verse Contest is tomorrow, February 28! Poets, consider entering something if you haven’t already. TNQ is an excellent literary journal with truly wonderful, humane editors to work with. They are great supporters of their writers. You get a subscription just by entering the contest. The journal has a lovely combination of poetry, fiction, personal essays, and occasional notes/reflections from their writers (a very nice touch). And, I think this is one of the best looking Canadian literary journals out there at the moment. It’s a pleasure to hold, to read. An excellent venue for your work! Details can be found at http://tnq.ca/nick-blatchford-occasional-verse-contest.

And, the deadline for the Edna Staebler Personal Essay Contest (which, incidentally, my essay “A Container of Light” won in 2011) is March 28. Details can be found at http://tnq.ca/edna-staebler-personal-essay-contest. Up with the personal essay!

This year, TNQ is also launching a new fiction contest for writers who have not yet published a novel or collection. The deadline is May 28. http://tnq.ca/peter-hinchcliffe-fiction-award.

All deadlines are postmark deadlines.
